Office of the Vice Provost for Research

The mission of the Office of the Vice Provost for Research is to work with individuals, teams, centers, institutes, and schools to foster excellence in research and creative activities and to offer support to faculty to successfully compete for external funding. OVPR provides consultation, proposal development services, competitive internal funding programs, and research infrastructure for a wide range of research, scholarly, and creative activities.

The Vice Provost and Associate Vice Provosts are committed to developing greater collaborative, interdisciplinary research opportunities for IU Bloomington faculty, between schools and across centers, institutes, and museums. The OVPR executive leadership takes a broad-based approach, working with units across the campus to remove barriers and create opportunities for faculty to work together.

Located on the second floor of Eigenmann, OVPR Proposal Development Services (PDS) helps IU Bloomington faculty secure funding for their research programs. PDS staff offer guidance and assistance to researchers in planning and conceptualizing externally funded research projects, seeking funding, and submitting well-crafted and responsive applications.

The Finance and Human Resources group assists OVPR centers, institutes, and museums with financial management and planning as well as a variety of payroll-related issues (e.g. hiring).

OVPR provides communications support to its centers and institutes including preparing news releases regarding center or institute accomplishments, developing fliers, brochures, or other materials, and website development and support.

The Information Technology group supports centers and institutes with IT services including lifecycle funding, security practices for workstations and servers, back-ups, and storage.
